I took a filming trip down to San Antonio and the Texas hill country a few weeks back to do some initial media work for Advantex Research and Bright Star Global Energy. Not to go too far into details about this projects, as we haven't started official press for them, but it's a business we have in development. Look at the link above if you're actually curious.
But on to the point beyond work. I'd never really been out and about in the hill country. Down near Fredericksburg, Texas, where the German immigrants settled and they've been speaking German as the common language for two hundred years. You can get a mean wurst if you stumble upon the right parts of middle-of-nowhere, Texas.
I grew up in forested lands, in east Tennessee, and there are forests all over the hill country, but they're different, as if the forests of the south were attempting a military occupation of the southwestern desert. There is as much dusty, dry decay as there is vibrancy.
This is all to say that it is a hauntingly beautiful country, rough and unfinished. I just thought I should share some simple impressions and images, which are no substitute for seeing it in person.

P.P.S. Oh, and the elk, being bred for a game ranch, are some of the nicest hoofed animals I've had the company of, even if they could kill you dead with those antlers in a heartbeat...
