Had an odd hair the other day, which is as much to say that I was bored out of my mind and had to find something to do with my massive amount of time generated from severe insomnia. So, it was 2am last wednesday and I pulled out the box which contains the mask workshop. And of course I knew I was in a mad tear when I found myself two days later wandering amongst all the scrapbooking cougars at Michaels with armloads of feathers and beads. And glitter. It looks like a stripper exploded on my coffee table (and not in a good way.) So I've found myself spending the past few evenings working on these things, covered in glue and paint and glitter, and don't see a stopping point coming any time soon as I have a half-dozen ideas to start work on after the half dozen I'm already working on. Part of the impetus on this whole project was my investigation of etsy.com, an utterly fascinating trading space where artists and craftspersons can sell hand- and custom-made objects. In investigating the whole community/site functionality to help out a marketing project I'm researching, I had to set myself up a shop. You will note absolutely nothing for sale in said shop currently. The test photos I took for this blog tell me I really need to shoot with better lighting conditions to get these masks to look right, perhaps might shoot with a model for full effect. Then we shall see if there is any market for wearable, custom made objects d'art. Trying some new things, with the venetian masquerade style (the black and white, supposedly a male/female pair.) And I'm not quite sure what I'm doing to finish out the plague mask. If anyone has any requests, please do tell.
