Just another day at work?

posted Tuesday, 31 July 2007
I sit in the office, the second of probably 5 consecutive 15-hour days that I will spend at work this week. The reason? IT'S OJ DAY! Yes, that most infamous of dubious celebrities will be doing 4 days of live, un-editied interviews over the internet and he picked our own little MN1.com to do it. This may create a huge internet and pop-culture buzz... It might blow over like a fly in a hurricane. Who knows. In any case it means a 70 hour work week for yours truly as I grease the wheels of my duck tape ridden, ornery bitch of a studio to put out a signal that I would accept as real broadcast quality and professionality. This also means a lot of people screaming, and running around like chickens missing their heads, and me shooting very very mean looks at anyone who gets in my way. Like the local affiliate and AP cameramen who moved aside our studio camera to get their own shot. In other words, one of the biggest clusterfucks I have ever experienced that did not lead to loss of life (yet.) Personally I have never had an opinion on this whole OJ controversy. History has written him as a killer, and the US Justice system has declared him not to be so. Does it even really matter what happened when the public opinion falls so far from the public record? I think it's amazing the buzz you may see in the next few days just how passionate people are about the subject, as our low profile content providing office gets so much buzz off this event. Reading the chat logs from today show me there are a lot of passionate weirdos out there trying to make their opinions heard. No more for tonite, at least until I've gotten a nap.
